Authorities issued warrants for two suspects wanted in connection with the Jan. 5 shooting death of a Rocky Mount man.
Muji Kiewaine Ingram, who turned 26 the day of the murder, and 36-year-old Christian Damion Miranda are charged in connection with the death of 20-year-old Marvin Braswell.
Braswell was shot and killed during an altercation on Starling Way. Witnesses reported that the suspects fled the scene in a green Dodge Stratus.
"We don't have a clear motive in the case, but it has some type of drug connection," Rocky Mount police Capt. Martin McCoy said. "Something about someone not holding up their end."
Detectives linked Ingram and Miranda to the homicide "through conversations between mutual parties and the suspects," McCoy said.
He would not be specific about the conversations.
Ingram's last known address is a Burton Street residence, and he is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds. Police charged Ingram with accessory after the fact.
Miranda's last known address is a Tarboro Street house, and he is 5-foot-8 and 195 pounds. He is charged with first-degree murder. Miranda also is known to frequent Raleigh, Durham, Winston-Salem and Boston.
McCoy said both suspects have prior drug convictions, including Miranda, who was convicted of two counts of drug possession and carrying a concealed weapon in 1998 in Rhode Island. He received probation for these convictions.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Ingram or Miranda can call the police department at 972-1411 or the Twin County Crime Stoppers at 977-1111. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
