Colic Not Uncommon

(HealthDayNews) -- If you're the parent of a colicky baby, you know how tough it can be. Nothing seems to quiet your newborn, and often you have no idea what's causing the problem.

The Texas Medical Center says the cause of colic is difficult to pin down. The problem rarely is related to maternal diet, formula intolerance or intestinal gas or pain.

Colic characterized by constant crying is not unusual, occurring in about 25 percent of babies aged 3 weeks to 2 months. It almost always disappears by 3 months.

Sometimes a walk in a stroller can ease the crying. The medical center says be sure to mention any concerns to your pediatrician.
