Special Event: Novo Nordisk will offer a free Diabetes Academy at 5:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 22 at the Harrison Family YMCA. The curriculum includes Diabetes 101, Staying Healthy and Diabetes Medication.

Addiction Recovery: The Addiction recovery group known as L.I.F.E. meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Oakdale Baptist Church, 13037 U.S. 64 Alt. The group also meets at the Peacemakers Building, 1725 Davis St., Rocky Mount, on the second and fourth Tuesdays. All meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. with a free meal. Special Event: Vidant Home Health and Hospice is currently recruiting volunteers in the Nash area. Opportunities include Direct Support, Respite Care and Indirect Support. Training is provided. Meeting: NARANON, a support group for families and friends of addicts, meets at 8 p.m. Wednesdays in the Cockrell Hall at Nashville United Methodist Church, 209 E. Washington St., Nashville.

Support Group: Living With and Beyond Cancer, a general support, will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month on second floor of Nash UNC Hospital. The group offers open and confidential discussions and guest speakers on cancer-related topics. For more information, call 962-8908

Flu Shots: The Nash County Health Department is offering flu shots in the Nashville Office, 214 S. Barnes St.. and the Rocky Mount Office, 322 S. Franklin St. by appointment only. Cost for the shot is $47. Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and MedCost participants can receive shots with no co-pay. You must bring your card with you for verification. Support Groups: Rocky Mount Infidelity Healing Support Group for Women, Rocky Mount Dealing with Infidelity Support Group for Men and Rocky Mount Adult Single Moms Support Group have been launched and are inviting people to join. For additional information or to join, go to meetup.com.

Support Group: Narcotics Anonymous meets regularly within the community. If you are addicted or think you may have a drug problem, go to tarroanokeareana.org for meeting locations and times.

Exercise Class: The Rocky Mount Senior Center will offer the following exercise classes at the following times: 9:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Body Craze; 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays, Circuit Training; 9:30 a.m. Fridays, YogaLike; and 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Senior Stretch. The monthly fee is $6 per class for city residents and $9 for non-city residents. Health Clinic: The Bloomer Hill People’s Clinic is a community and student-led clinic that provides free health care information and screenings beginning at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the Bloomer Hill Community Center, located at 10065 U.S. 301, Whitakers.
