New pastor comes to Ridgecrest

The Rev. Kelly L. Shope has joined Ridgecrest Worship Center as its lead pastor.

Shope comes to the position from Carlisle, Pa., where he served as youth and discipleship director for the Pennsylvania executive office of the Church of God, a release says. He also previously served as youth and Christian education director for the Church of God’s state offices in Baton Rouge, La., and Anchorage, Alaska. In the latter, he also served as pastor of the Anchorage Family Worship Center.

He began his service in Rocky Mount on March 1.

“He and his wife, Dana, have pastors’ hearts and love building up, equipping and encouraging God’s people,” the release says. “It is a pleasure to welcome them to Ridgecrest Worship Center.”

Shope attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., and the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.

The Shopes have a son, Ashten.

Ridgecrest Worship Center is at 1120 West Mount Drive.
