A Rocky Mount-reared minister and writer will return to the area this month to start a 30-day prayer challenge based on her recently finished first book of devotions for women.
The Rev. Nina E. Borum is publishing “Praying for Men of P.O.W.E.R.” on Tuesday through Pate Publishing.
“Borum is an ordained minister who is fed up with the sight of men walking beneath their God-ordained purpose and dignity,” a release says. “After seeing defeat in the lives of the men in her family and her brothers in Christ, she felt charged with a commission to bring the world together in prayer.”
The acronym “POWER” in the book’s title lays out five character points – purity, obedience, wisdom, exhortation and responsibility – that men need to change to step off a destructive path, the release says. Those points offer a basis for a month-long prayer challenge Borum wants to start.
“Borum walks women through 30 days of laser-focused prayer that will bring the men in their lives to a higher and more anointed level of existence,” the release says.
The author returns home this month for presentations on the book at 10 a.m. March 15 and 11 a.m. March 16 at Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 317 Beauvue Road, Elm City. The prayer challenge will begin with the March 15 program.
Johnson graduated in 2002 from Northern Nash High School. She earned a bachelor’s in marketing from Meredith College in Raleigh and in practical ministries from Evangeline Booth College in Atlanta and a master’s in biblical studies from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn., the release says.
Ordained by the Salvation Army and by the National Association of Christian Ministers, she also founded the Ladies of Trinity women’s Bible study in Nashville, Tenn., and blogs at trinitygal.com.
“Praying for Men of P.O.W.E.R.” will be available in print and as a Kindle e-book through amazon.com and bn.com. The print book will cost $12.99, and the Kindle version will be $10.99.
