Falls Road Baptist Church recently recognized its retired long-serving minister by naming him pastor emeritus.
Dr. Frank Hamrick was honored at the 11 a.m. Feb. 23 service, a release says.
The service included remarks by four other ministers – the Rev. Tim Griffin, the Rev. Bill Coffee, the Rev. Lee Price and the Rev. Randy Davis – a slideshow highlighting Hamrick’s years of service and a presentation by the Rev. Steven Harduk, Falls Road’s current pastor, of a framed certificate.
The honor caps Hamrick’s 26 years of service to Falls Road, first as associate pastor and later as senior pastor, and more than 50 years of full-time ministry, the release says.
His accomplishments at the church included starting the Pro Teens youth ministry that subsequently grew into a worldwide publishing ministry for Christian materials and curricula for churches and Christian schools.
The honor also continues a tradition for the Hamrick family. Hamrick’s father, the late Dr. W.D. Hamrick, was named pastor emeritus of Falls Road following his retirement after 27 years as the church’s senior pastor.
Hamrick and his wife, Judy, live in Rocky Mount. They have four children, Joy, Christy, Laura and Frank Jr.
The church is at 722 Falls Road. For information, call 977-2400.
