Church to ordain deacons
Union Hill event set for Nov. 16

Women's Fellowship: Hickory View Missionary Baptist Church, 3911 Bulluck School Road, will have a women's fellowship program at 10 a.m. Saturday. Helen Hines Hunter will be the guest speaker.

Meeting: Women of Destiny will hold its monthly meeting from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Faith and Victory Church, 1136 Benvenue Road. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Vicyktoria Richardson. For information, call 903-8699.

Appreciation Service: Ray of Hope Christian Center, 12120 Fisher Road, Whitakers, will have a musicians appreciation service at 3 p.m. Saturday. Uninhibited Praise, N.C. State University's gospel choir, will perform.

Anniversary: The combined choir of East End Baptist Church, 928 E. Highland Ave., will celebrate its anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jasonya Meyers.

Special Service: Dr. Umesh Gulati, an N.C. Humanities Council scholar, will present the programs "Hinduism and Its Philosophy" at 11 a.m. and "Democratic Reconstruction of World Religions" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship, 516 N. Church St. For information, call 985-2550.

Anniversary: The Usher Board of Greater St. Mark Baptist Church of Whitakers will celebrate its second anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The featured performance will be by the Red Hill Baptist Church Male Choir.

Anniversary: The Original Bright Stars will celebrate their anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Anniversary: The Junior Choir of Pittman Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Gospel Sing: Tabernacle of Praise, 1136 S. Church St., will have its eighth anniversary celebration at 5 p.m. Sunday. Family Day: Greater Zion Original Free Will Baptist Church, 305 N. Travis St., Stantonsburg, will celebrate Family and Friends Week at 7:30 p.m. daily Tuesday through Thursday. Anniversary: Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church will hold a series of services to celebrate its 117th anniversary Wednesday through Nov. 16. Anniversary: The ushers of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate their anniversary at 4 p.m. Nov. 16. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jonah Walston Jr.

Ordination Service: Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church will have a deacon ordination service at 3 p.m. Nov. 16. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Milton Jones.

Thanksgiving Service: St. John Missionary Baptist Church will have a Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Nov. 26.

Family Day: Pittman Grove Missionary Baptist Church will have a Family and Friends Day service at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 30.

Concert: The Legacy Quartet will perform at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 at Sharpsburg Baptist Church, 3720 Hathaway Blvd. Admission is free; a donation of one canned good is requested. For details, call 446-4466.

Anniversary: Shine A Little Light will celebrate its ninth anniversary at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Gateway Convention Center. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Sheryl Brady. Tickets are $40. For information, call 446-7938.

Discussion Series: Grace Reformed Baptist Church will offer a series of discussions on matters of faith at 7 p.m. Thursdays through Thursday at Via Cappuccino coffeehouse in Rocky Mount. Part of the Whitehorse Inn theological series, the discussions address the challenges Christians face.
