Trenise Moore, a seventh-grader at Phillip’s Middle School in Battleboro, was the recipient of the 2011 Victor E. Bell Scholarship.

College Foundation of North Carolina Regional Representative Amy Denton presented Moore with the award Dec. 20th at school awards program.

“We are very fortunate at College Foundation Inc. to offer this financial opportunity to help students realize their dreams of going to college,” Denton said.

Moore will receive a $20,000 scholarship after her four years of high school if she maintains an A/B average.

The scholarship is an outstanding honor, not only for Moore but the students of Phillips Middle School, Principal Donnell Brown said.

“Trenise was the first, but she will definitely not be the last student at Phillips Middle School to receive honors of this magnitude,” Brown said. “We are very proud of Trenise.”
