Tyson receives scholarship for Barton College

Meaghan Lane Tyson of Nashville, a graduate of Nash Central High School, is the recipient of the John J. Harper Scholarship at Barton College. The renewable scholarship will cover $3,000 of tuition for Tyson’s freshman year.

Tyson is the daughter of Jennifer Taylor Wells of Nashville and Charles Russell Tyson of Bailey.

Tyson plans to major in nursing.

The John J. Harper Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen who are well prepared to meet the challenges of a liberal arts education.

Recipients must rank within the top 65 percent of their high school class. A 2.5 grade point average must be maintained to retain the scholarship for four years
