Southern Nash JROTC wins competition

Air Force JROTC teams from 12 different schools met recently at Sanderson High School in Raleigh to compete in the fourth annual Capital City Invitational Drill Meet.

Southern Nash High School’s Regulation Armed Flight placed third, commanded by Cadet John Setera.

The Regulation Flight placed third commanded by Cadet Lance Burnett.

Cadet Trevon Davis placed second commanding the First year cadet (AS-1) Flight and Cadet Austin Fennell placed 1st commanding the Regulation Element Male. The AS-1 Element, commanded by Cadet Eric Wall, placed third.

The Regulation Color Guard, commanded by Cadet Cristal Raya, placed 3rd and Cadet Trebor Walker placed 2nd commanding The Innovative Element Armed. The Innovative Duo, performed by Cadets Trebor Walker and Lance Burnett, placed 3rd.

Cadet Lance Burnett competed in the best individual drill with rifle competition and placed first. Cadet Austin Fennell also placed first in the best individual drill competition.

The Southern Nash High School team also competed in athletic events.

They tied for third in the relay event and Cadet Austin Fennell received an award for the most sit ups performed in two minutes.

When the competition was over, Southern Nash High School marched off with the first place overall trophy.
