Rocky Mount family sends student abroad

Nathan C. Davis, son of James Lee Davis of Rocky Mount, is participating in the Bates College Junior Semester Abroad program.

Davis, who is majoring in politics and minoring in Chinese at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, will be studying in Kunming, China through the School of International Training.

His on-campus undergraduate activities include: men’s rugby; Model UN; the annual Entering Student Outdoor Program; and Brooks Quimby Debate Club.

Davis spends his summers with his dad and the Davis family of Rocky Mount. He lives in Portland, Maine with his mother City Councilor, Jill Duson.

A cum laude graduate of Portland’s Casco Bay High School (Class of 2010), Davis is a Senator George J. Mitchell Scholar (2010-2014), and received the 2010 Stephen B. Center Award for Diversity Leadership.

Prior to his upcoming studies, Davis completed a short term study course in Beijing and two summer internships in Taiwan (summer 2010 and 2011).

Davis’ career interests include international business, politics and the U.S. Foreign Service.
