O. R. Pope Elementary School students and staff recently performed at the Booker T Theatre in celebration of the arts.
With her expertise in different genres of music and dance, Music teacher Joan Vick guided students through a diverse repertoire for the audience’s enjoyment.
Kindergarten and first-grade students performed “I Love My Country,” “Mr. Sun” and “The Pope School Song.” Second- and third-graders graced the stage with “Check It Out,” “I Like Me” and “What A Wonderful World.” A select group of third-graders line danced to “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.”
Symphony recorder students played “When the Saints Go Marching In” and fourth-and fifth-graders sang “I’d Rather Be Happy” and “I Have A Dream.”
Vick and the students send a special thanks to Principal Gary Major for arranging for them to perform at the Booker T Theatre.
