Edgecombe Community College has nominated the following students for the 2012 Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship: Kevin Pixley, Jenny Wesner and Elaine Williams.
Kevin Pixley of Tarboro is studying toward an associate in arts degree. He maintains a 4.0 grade point average. Jenny Wesner of Roanoke Rapids graduated in May 2011 with an associate in fine arts degree. She maintained a 3.97 GPA.
Elaine Williams of Rocky Mount is a business major who plans to continue her education at N.C. Wesleyan College. She maintains a 3.81 GPA.
Through the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides scholarships worth up to $30,000 per year to community college students to help them earn a four-year degree.
In April, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation will award approximately 60 scholarships of up to $30,000 per year to outstanding low-income students transferring to four-year colleges and universities in fall 2012.
