The Edgecombe Community College Foundation’s 27th annual Golf Tournament raised more than $20,000 for student scholarships.

The tournament was held in September at Maccripine Country Club. Forty-three teams played in the tournament, which is the largest fundraiser for the college.

“The golf tournament is always a wonderful event,” said Karen Andrus, executive director of the ECC Foundation. “We had terrific weather this year; it was a picture-perfect day. The golfers had a great time, and our students are the beneficiaries. It’s a win-win event for everyone.”

First-place winner of the first flight was the Thomas Edmondson Agency, with team members Curtis Edmondson, John Tilton, Lee Edmondson and Charlie Harrell.

First flight/second-place winner was Kanban Logistics, with team members Mark Doughtie, Harold Hobgood, Shane Floras and Kevin Wooten.

Second flight/first-place winner was Deluxe Cleaners, with team members Allen Letchworth, Brian Weathersby, Buddy Edmondson and Cameron Taylor.

Second flight/second-place winner was Webb’s Lawn Care/Parkway Ag, with team members Chris Hoke, Nathan Webb, Kathy Webb and Timmy Webb.

Corporate sponsor of the golf tournament was Keihin Carolina System Technology, who provided a 2012 Honda Pilot LX as a hole-in-one prize.

Silver sponsors were ABB, Brady Energy Services, Cummins-Rocky Mount Engine Plant, Edgecombe Garage Doors/Hartcom Power Division, Edgecombe-Martin County EMC, Hillshire Brands, Sundrop Bottling Co., and Wells Fargo.

“We wouldn’t be able to hold the tournament without the generous support of our corporate neighbors and friends,” Andrus adds.

Serving on the 2012 ECC golf tournament committee were Karen Andrus, Jerome Creech, Lee Edmondson, Charlie Harrell, Kenny Honeycutt, Dr. Deborah Lamm and George McFadyen.
