Four members of Rocky Mount Acadmey’s Class of 2013 have been nominated for prestigious college scholarships in the state.

Dillon Crawford, son of Mike and Mary Beth Crawford, and Tet Hughes, son of Andrew Roy and Kathy Hughes-Roy, have been nominated for the Park Scholarship at N.C. State University.

The Park Scholarship provides full funding of four years’ tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses.

Will Adams, son of Randy and Sally Adams, and Emily Ferguson, daughter of Marzena Laszewski and Bill Ferguson, are Morehead-Cain nominees at the University of North Carolna-
Chapel Hill.

The Morehead-Cain Scholarship pays for four years’ tuition and fees, student fees, housing, meals, books and a laptop, supplies and miscellaneous expenses. Adams and Ferguson said they hope to follow in the footsteps of Emma Park, RMA Class of 2012, who was the only Morehead-Cain Scholarship winner in the Nash-Rocky Mount area last year.

“RMA is so fortunate to have students who are worthy of consideration for these coveted scholarships. We’ve watched these four students grow up at RMA, and it is so special to see them now recognized for making the right choices and for being high achievers and leaders,” RMA Head of School Beth Covolo said. “We’re so proud of them, their character, and all of their accomplishments while at RMA. We wish them much luck in the competition,” she added.

Both universities work on similar timetables for the scholarship selection.

These students will learn if they have qualified for the next level of competition in early winter. Final announcement of winners is in March 2013.
