Annette Walker was named the assistant principal for Princeville Elementary School at the Oct. 8 meeting of the Edgecombe County Board of Education.
Walker was most recently serving as the site supervisor for the Edgecombe County Public Schools Family Resource Center, providing direction and staff development for the staff in accordance with the N.C. Department of Child Development and Early Education. Prior to assuming that role, she coordinated programs such as Parents as Teacher and Men N Motion for the center, ensuring that parent and family workshops ran efficiently.
After receiving her bachelor of arts in Elementary Education from N.C. Central University in 1990, Walker started her teaching career at G.W. Carver Elementary School and stayed there until 2004 when she began serving as the Pre-K Literacy Specialist for the district.
She went on to complete her master’s degree in education from the University of Phoenix in 2007.Princeville Elementary School is located at 306 Walston St. in Princeville and serves 345 students.
