Wreath-making a Christmas tradition

Many families have Christmas traditions but here is a new twist that Tara Daniels of Rocky Mount has celebrated with her family for seven years.

Tara heard from a friend about a wreath-making class offered by the Nash County Master Gardeners using fresh greenery. Tara signed up for the class with her mother and grandmother in 2006. Her 8-year-old daughter, Vanessa, insisted on going along. Vanessa was just going to tag along but the master gardener instructors didn’t see any reason that Vanessa could not make her own wreath. Her mom said her wreath was beautiful when she finished.

Tara’s mother and grandmother have since moved away, but Tara and Vanessa signed up again for the class. Vanessa’s younger sister Alyson, 12, decided that she did not want to miss out. So the family tradition continues with another beautiful wreath.

All three wreaths have a special door to greet visitors to their Rocky Mount home this Christmas.
