Whitakers group works to boost community projects

The James McFarlin Community Development Inc. is working in Whitakers and the surrounding area to help improve the lives of local residents.

The 501c(3) nonprofit organization and Whitakers Mayor Esterine Pitt are working with the Nash County Health Department and Down East Partnership for Children on several projects such as expanded food and nutrition, obesity classes and the Young Moms Connect project for mothers 13 to 24 years old. The organization’s mission statement is HOPE – Helping Other People Excel. For more information on these projects please call 252-977-0103.
