Keep America Beautiful of Nash and Edgecombe Counties recently saluted Milton Bullock, Kirk Scott of the Christian Fellowship Home for Men and Barbara Johnson of the Villa Place Historic Neighborhood Group for their work to clean up the Princeville Cemetery.
“The inclement weather interrupted our progress (and) just made the grass and weeds the winner over our collective efforts,” said project facilitator Bullock. “With autumn just around the corner, we anticipate the change of season will give us some leverage – the weeds and wild brush will be easier to cut as the grass dies.”
The volunteers picked up trash, removed fallen trees and cut and manicured the grass along the cemetery entrance.
“More able bodies are needed to stay ahead, as the grass doesn’t give us weekend breaks – it’s a constant job,” Bullock said. “Round up your family members, friends, neighbors or co-workers and assist us with the cleaning up of this historical cemetery.”
