A free horse camp for children with autism spectrum disorder recently was held at Morgan Manor in Elm City.

The camp was organized by Amy Lerro, a rising freshman at Rocky Mount Academy, in honor of her cousin who is a teen with autism. Activities at the camp included hands-on interaction with horses, including the grooming, leading, giving commands, riding, cleaning and care of horses.

Camp staff members and participants included Caitlyn Head, Taylor Gorich, Chelcie Rawls, Skyler Kelly, Joseph Anthony, Amber Burner, Michael Head, Lexus Caster, Amy Lerro, Marcus Lerro and Grace Williams.
