Timiya Murphy of Tarboro will host her second motivational workshop for girls ages 8 to 16 at 6 p.m. Thursday at Edgecombe County Memorial Library.
The workshop will include words of inspiration from youth in the community and activities to help encourage girls to to stay motivated and focused on reaching goals.
Murphy, 18, has been giving back to her community since she was 13. She has hosted several workshops in the community, as well as a fitness and cheer camp for youth every summer. She was named 2012-13 Ms. North Carolina State Junior Teen Ambassador and Community Service Winner on both the state and national level in the Ms. N.C. Jr. Teen Competition.
Murphy is a senior at Edgecombe Early College High School. She will graduate this month and attend Campbell University as a medical student. Timiya’s ambition is to become a pediatrician. She is the daughter of Timothy and Tiffany Bridgers.
