The Rocky Mount-Edgecombe Community Development Corp. will sponsor an Open House celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday to showcase its new energy-efficient rental units at 610 Holly Street.
The community development corporation is working with the Rocky Mount Redevelopment Commission and Down East HOME Consortium to revitalize the Holly Street neighborhood.
The four GREEN energy-efficient rental units on Holly Street, which were constructed by Petway Quality Builders of Rocky Mount, consist of 867 square feet per unit with two bedrooms, one bathroom and an open floor plan for the living, kitchen and dining room areas. REEN features include Energy Star windows, doors, appliances and HVAC, programmable thermostats, energy-efficient sheet rock, trusses, insulation and drought tolerant planting.
“The RMECDC Board of Directors and staff are pleased to continue to develop affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization initiatives in Rocky Mount,” said Joyce Dickens, president of the community development corporation. “RMECDC and our partners have eight more apartments in planning for this neighborhood. Construction is projected to start later this month.”
