The NEED Board of Directors is seeking members to represent Districts 1 and 2 in Edgecombe County.
District 1 consists of the Battleboro, Bricks, Cokertown, Dogtown, Draughn, Dunbar, Heartsease, Lawrence, Leggett, Mayo Crossroads, Princeville, Red Hill, Tarboro, Whitakers, Northeast Rocky Mount and Seven Bridges communities.
District 2 consists of the Bridgersville, Crisp, Conetoe, Macclesfield, Mildred, Pinetops, Sharpsburg, Southeast Rocky Mount, Kingsboro, Temple Hall, Springfield Road, Cokey Road and Bullock School Road communities.
Anyone residing in District 1 or 2 and having an interest in representing the low-income may be nominated. The candidate must be elected by members of the community and or community organizations – including senior citizens groups – under the umbrella of NEED, Inc.
Candidates must be a resident of the district they seek to represent, be at least 18 years old, be available to attend meetings, be willing to attend community meetings and agree to conduct district meetings at least quarterly.
Prospective candidates are asked to submit a biographical summary detailing background and leadership activities no later that 1 p.m. Sept. 6 to Family Development Division Director Gloria W. The meeting for the District 2 election will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the NEED office at 2228 North Main St., in Tarboro.
