Nash Central student named 2013 Distinguished Young Woman

Meredith Anne Davis was named the 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of Nash-Rocky Mount.

Davis was one of six local young women who competed for the title on Sunday at Edgecombe Community College’s Keihin Auditorium in Tarboro.

Davis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Davis and attends Nash Central High School. She was sponsored by Rob Pinner of Eastern Carolina Insurance.

Caley Madison Bass, a student at Nash Central High School, was the first runner-up. Bass won the Be Your Best Self and Spirit categories.

Also competing in the scholarship program were Taylor Kathryn Joyner of Southern Nash High School, Kathryn Louse Manning of Nash Central High School, Lindsey Rachelle Sharpe of Nash Central High School and Whitley Caroline Wilson of Southern Nash High School.

Davis and Bass were the winners of the Fitness and Self-Expression categories. Davis and Sharpe were the winners of the Talent and Interview categories. Joyner was the winner of the Overall Scholastics category.
