The 2013 officers of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Rocky Mount Chapter 0781, were installed during the January meeting.

Federation/state Executive Vice President Ben Saunders presided at the installation ceremony held at Gardner’s Barbecue Restaurant.

Also present was Paul Sams, federation past president and director of the Federal Retiree Task Force of North Carolina.

Following a welcome by newly installed chapter president Kay Evans, a business meeting was conducted, and committee reports were presented and approved.

Vice President Saunders informed the members, for the first time, that the 2014 state convention will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel-Gateway Convention Center, hosted by Chapter 0781.

After a discussion and many comments/questions from attendees, Saunders said that the federation will offer assistance to the chapter in planning and carrying out the convention, such as preparing programs, booster and memorial booklets, registration and door prizes.

Outgoing chapter President James “Bud” Evans presented Gracie Couch a Citation for Distinguished Service to National Active and Retired Federal Employees in her continuing role as chapter treasurer and sunshine committee chair, as well as federation treasurer and past federation secretary. The National Active and Retired Federal Employees chapter meets the second Tuesday monthly, except July and August, 12:30 p.m. at Gardner’s, 1331 N. Wesleyan Boulevard. The next meeting will be held on February 12.
