Brandon Wayne Griffin, a rising senior at Rocky Mount Academy, will be honored at 2 p.m. July 20 at Temperance Hall United Methodist Church for obtaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.

Brandon is the son of Wayne and Sandy Griffin of Rocky Mount, and is a member of Scout Troop 752.

Brandon joined Cub Scouts at the age of six and has been involved with scouting ever since. Brandon earned a total of 32 merit badges and completed a 432-hour community service project and was deemed worthy by the Eagle Scout Board of Review to advance to the rank of Eagle Scout.

Temperance Hall United Methodist Church, where Brandon is a member, was the beneficiary of his project. Brandon refurbished existing playground equipment and purchased new equipment for the youth of the church. He also fenced in the playground to make it safer for the children. Brandon held a pancake and sausage supper to raise money for the project.

Brandon is an honor roll student and intends on furthering his education after high school, although he still is undecided on a particular university.
