Family honors Charles Ezzell on his 74th birthday

On his 74th birthday, Charles Ezzell is being honored by his family for the great man that he is.

Exxell served in the military for 21 years, and his career took him from the United States to Italy, Germany and Vietnam.

His responsibilities put him in charge of stored rockets in the European community to heavy lift transportation in Germany. He served in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for outstanding performance against enemy ground fire.

He received the Air Medal for 25 helicopter combat missions, three meritorious service medals, three army accommodation medals, and one Vietnam service medal.

He retired from the U.S. Army in 1976 with the rank of sergeant 1st Class. He served as the general manager of the Nash County ABC Board from 1988 to 2003.
