Matthew Lane of Nashville recently was recognized as obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

For his service project, Lane rose more than $4,500 to renovate a patio garden for the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center. The patio garden is used by patients and their families during their recuperation at the center. Matthew removed large shedding trees and shrubs and replaced with low maintenance plants, planters and garden art.

Lane is a member of Troop 40 chartered by Englewood United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount. He is the son of Tim and Jeannie Lane of Nashville.
