A miscommunication is to blame for the publishing of an incorrect date for the International Festival of Cultures.

Rocky Mount officials said those planning the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. events had one date for the festival while the folks at Nash Community College had another date scheduled. The festival, which includes displays and presentations by various cultures, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 in Brown Auditorium of Nash Community College.

“The festival brings all these nationalities together and lets the citizens learn more about the diverse populations that make up the city of Rocky Mount,” Rocky Mount Human Relations Director Archie Jones said. “It is very important for the growth of the city to celebrate diversity.”
