DAR member remembered

At the October meeting of Micajah Pettaway Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution members remembered a past member, Mrs. Katherine Keller Maultsby. The Chapter Chaplain, Mrs. Pricilla Sykes, conducted a Memorial Service of Remembrance.

Katherine passed away March 27, 2013 in Burlington, NC. “Katy” was born in Arlington, Virginia to Admiral Clarence and Virginia Keller. She graduated from Duke University and received her Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Nursing. She enjoyed a fifty year career in nursing before her death.

Katy always loved the DAR and was very proud to be a member. She continued her membership with the Micajah Pettaway Chapter in Rocky Mount after her move to Burlington in 1972. Her daughter and granddaughter are also DAR members. Her husband Thomas has had the DAR Insignia placed on her grave marker.
