Local residents who are looking to cool off and beat the heat this weekend and throughout the summer can visit Denton Street Pool.

The pool will be open all three days of Memorial Day weekend. Admission is $3 per person.

The pool is a good place for families to come out and have fun while staying cool during hot summer days, said Rocky Mount Recreation Coordinator Brian Harrell.

The pool will be open Saturdays and Sundays through June 15 for “early season” hours. Starting June 16 and running through mid-August, the pool will be open seven days a week for “regular season” hours. From Aug. 18 until Sept. 8, the pool will go back to being open two days a week for “late season” hours.

More information about the pool, including a list of the days and hours of operation is available online at http://www.rockymountnc.gov/parks/pool.html.

People who visit the pool must wear appropriate bathing suits, Harrell said. Cutoff jeans and gym shorts are not allowed. Children who wear diapers must wear a swim diaper, Harrell said. He said children who have beads in their hair may want to bring a swim cap.
