Rocky Mount residents are invited to enjoy an evening of entertainment tonight at the inaugural End of Summer Celebration.
The free event will kick off at 5 p.m. at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex with inflatables for kids, live entertainment from the band The Tams, who are known for a blend of smooth soul and R&B music, as well as a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The celebration was planned after thunderstorms canceled the city’s 42nd annual Independence Celebration on July 3.
“We encourage everyone to come out and to have a great time,” Parks and Recreation Director Kelvin Yarrell said. “We have inundated the city with great events like Downtown Live!, Lawn Chair Theatre, the Rockin’ Classic Auto & Motorcycle Expo, Summer Night Lights and more, and this event will be just as exciting as the other events the city has initiated throughout the years. Depending upon its success, this is something that we may implement for future years as well.”
The event is presented by PNC. Food and drink vendors will be selling their products to attendees.
