The city’s Downtown Live! outdoor music series will culminate Thursday with a performance by The Band of Oz on the lawn of the Imperial Centre.
“Since May 16, thousands have converged on the Imperial Centre lawn for wholesome family fun and entertainment,” said Parks and Recreation Director Kelvin Yarrell. “The Band of Oz is the 10th in a lineup of bands that provided various genres of music, from R&B to oldies, hip hop and much more. Downtown Live! will return in 2014 with some of the same bands, as well as an introduction of bands who have never performed in our area.”
The public may claim their space on the lawn as early as 5 p.m. Music begins at 6 p.m., and the event will continue until 8:30 p.m.
The Band of Oz is from Raleigh and is known throughout the Southeast for its beach music. The eight-member group has been performing since 1967 and continues to tour at major beach concerts in the Carolina’s, Virginia and Georgia.
