Chowan University recognized Detron Montrel Phillips of the Battleboro community for graduating with a bachelor's degree in graphic communication and an associate degree in printing production and imaging technology.

The Honorable James P. Cain, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, delivered the keynote address. The ceremony concluded with each graduate ringing the bell in the Kerr Memorial Gazebo, symbolizing the successful completion to their academic careers.

Chowan University is a Christian liberal arts university founded in 1848.
