Two members of the Boy Scout Troop 332 have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
The two are Brenten Lee Bottoms and Ryan Davis Stevenson. Both were led in Scouting by Scoutmaster Joel M. Thorne. The Boy Scout troop was chartered by the Elm City Rotary Club.
Bottoms' Eagle project was a joint project with the town of Elm City. He conceived, coordinated and supervised the restoration and beautification of the fire hydrants in Elm City.
Bottoms has been a member of Troop 332 since he was 10. He was a Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. Bottoms has earned 29 merit badges and has received the Bronze Palm.
Bottoms is a freshman at Nash Community College and plans to transfer to N.C. State University in 2009 studying engineering and drafting. He is the son of Henry and Melinda Bottoms.
Stevenson's Eagle project was a joint project with the town of Elm City, Elm City Beautification Committee and the Elm City Ruritans.
He conceived, coordinated and supervised the Welcome sign project to its completion. Stevenson has been a member of Troop 332 since he was 11. He was a Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. He has dual membership in Crew 1117, the Camp Bonner Staff Crew since 2002 and serves on the camp staff as a Personal Fitness/Sports Director. He is a five-year member of the Order of the Arrow.
Stevenson has earned 43 merit badges and has received the Bronze, Gold, and Silver Palms. He is a sophomore at Nash Community College and plans to transfer to Appalachian State University this fall to study finance and business. He is the son of Steve and Jynell Stevenson.
