Have you ever heard of Soccer Ella? Once upon a time there lived a pretty girl named Ella. Her stepmother called her Soccer Ella because she loved to play soccer.
Her mother died when she was only a baby. Her father died when she was 10. Now she is 17. Her stepmother is 52. And her two stepsisters are 19.
She asked her stepmother, "Can I come to the ball too?" She said, "No!" And she slammed the door! SMASH! It came falling down. KABOOM!
But she went to the ball anyway. She went wearing a soccer outfit. It came with shoes, a shirt and pants. The soccer prince was in the same thing! He said, "May I have this dance?" Soccer Ella said, "Yes!" And they danced until it was over.
After that they got married.
Playful Cat
By Jessica Owens, sixth grade, Rocky Mount Prep School
She sits and sleeps all day.
Wondering what's going to happen next.
She comes to my feet and meows.
And asks are you going to play.
I say I can't right now I have to do homework.
She wonders why, why, why.
Meow she replies.
Okay I guess I can play.
