There once was a happy fish named Swimmer. Every night he thought about diving in the Caribbean Sea. Swimmer lived on an island. His house was made out of driftwood and sea grass. One day he left his house for a little walk in the jungle. One minute after he started walking in the jungle, he got lost.
He tried to find his way back, but the trees were too tall. He sat on a rock and started crying. Then he said, "I shouldn't have left my cozy hut!"
Then there was a noise in the pile of leaves. It was a snake. His name was Viper.
Swimmer said, "C...Ca...Can you help me find my way back to the west side of the island?"
Viper said, "I will if you find me some food."
So Swimmer did because he wanted to go back to his cozy hut. Finally he found Viper some food.
Viper and Swimmer were walking in the jungle. A hunter's car was left in the jungle for about a month. It was rusty, and the car was camo. The car was asleep. He woke up and saw the little critters.
The car's name is Lion. He didn't like animals, so he chased them all the way to Swimmer's house.
Swimmer said, "I will never get lost again!"
My Favorite Plant
By Jalon Hill, third grade, OLPH Catholic School
My favorite plant is
A rose.
You can water it with
A hose.
Can you smell it with
Your nose?
It is as bright as
The sun.
You can see it when
You run.
Cat Cave
By Dimonelle Sessoms, second-grade, Winstead Avenue Elementary
If I were a black cat, I'd big, black dog. I would scratch another cat. I would not like cat food. I would eat people food. That tastes better than cat food. I hate cat food. It is yucky! Yum! People food! I would live in a cave that is dark. I would get gooooood sleep in may cave. I would have a good time. I could run as fast as a lion.
Caught on the Phone

Chuck is a race car. He is green and blue. He is number 67. He is still having problems. He isn't following the rules.
He gets in trouble when he is doing something wrong. One day the teacher called Chuck's mom and said, "Hi, this is Chuck's teacher. Chuck has had problems with listening to directions."
Chuck was sad to hear his teacher was mad at him. The next day Chuck went to school, but this time when he listened to directions, it was easier. Chuck knows he has to listen to directions from now on.
