Princeville Montessori School rewarded Limo to Lunch contest winners with a ride in a stretch limousine and pizza for lunch. This year's contest ran from Feb. 1 to April 25 and rewarded 157 winners.
Williams Limousine Service provided 13 trips to Pizza Inn shuttling groups of 12 students and two teacher and assistants.
The Limo to Lunch contest has been a part of the Accelerated Reader Program at Princeville Montessori for three years. Students read books from a personalized list created to stretch their reading skills. Then, they take computerized quizzes to test and reinforce those skills. Students receive points for each quiz that they complete successfully.
Goals are set for each grade level and students are rewarded when they meet their goal. Art teacher Ashley Myers made a big paper limousine that was placed on the wall in the school lobby. A picture of each student was placed on the limo when the student reached the goal.
"The purpose of course is to get kids reading," said Princeville Media Coordinator Cindy Brittain. "We're really happy that they haven't stopped, even though the contest is over."
