Our latest cover woman is Dr. Lisa Nelson- Robinson, and she is the epitome of a woman who balances work and family. She has a life as a busy surgeon by day and as a wonderful mom and wife by night (she also can do both simultaneously if the situation demands.) I met Lisa more than 10 years ago at a breast cancer awareness event and was struck by her passion for women and their health. She hasn't changed a bit.

I also encourage you to make sure you read The Last Word feature on page 42. This is a regular Charm feature, and this issues's "woman in the hot seat" is Susan Lamar. She is a longtime community resident and current cancer warrior. Instead of a "woe is me" attitude, she's going on the offensive. She has organized a fundraiser for cancer research – a dog walk event called Paws for a Cause – that will take place in the fall. Now that's fighting back! I hope I can be like Susan if I ever face such obstacles.
