A local company next month will be hiring 100 people to handle customer service calls.

West Corp., which is hired to handle companies’ customer service calls, needs the temporary full-time help to handle an additional workload of one of its clients. The jobs pay $11 an hour.

“The new positions come from increased demands from a client, a leading pharmaceutical company,” a West Corp. press release states. “The full-time customer service positions primarily focus on assisting incoming callers with their prescription needs.”

West Corp. is hosting job fairs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. this coming Monday and Tuesday at its Rocky Mount office at 1974 Stone Rose Drive. The upcoming job fairs will feature onsite interviews for the positions. West also plans on holding a job fair Nov. 11.

People will be hired after the fairs, and the jobs should last through February, said David Pleiss, vice president of investor and public relations for the company Wednesday.

But employees who perform well could work themselves into a longer-term position, Pleiss said.

“We have other clients (whose calls are handled at) that center, and the employees may be able to say on,” he said.

The press release states that West Corp. is looking for candidates with a solid work history and customer service experience. Good communication and computer skills are also necessary. The company offers paid training.

People may apply online at www.westemployment.com.

“There are so many qualified people looking for work in the Rocky Mount area. It’s exciting to say we’re growing yet again,” said Christina Sussman, the company’s director of human resources.

Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Omaha, Neb., West serves Fortune 1000 companies and other clients in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, banking, retail, financial, technology and healthcare. West has sales and operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

Comet & Concerned, you have got to be kidding? If you are going to a job to apply, why wouldn't you dress up for the position? That is just common sense. And once you get in the door, there are at least three jeans days a week for the employees, so as long as you can tuck in your shirt and not look like a whore, the dress code is just fine.

Correction on the last statement: Everyone in those doors are not angels, nor have perfect credit and background histories.

You have to dress as though ur getting up Sunday morning. So if you travel from miles away to apply you will get sent home. Their too choosy on whom they hire. They dont believe in second chances. Everyone in those doors are angels. Trust me!!

Comet u are correct. If you travel from mile away to apply, please dress appropriate cause they will send you home. Wolves can come in, get the job, then start chaos once they get through the door. But someone who comes qualified, seeking work, let the first red flag come up from their past, and their out the door. Why do u think the turn around time for hiring is like it is? Once they get them in, they start stuff then get fired.WOW.

wow $11 an hour, to work at this company, from what I have heard, you have to dress as though you were attending church everyday, also, i have heard that there is a lot of physcial violence that goes on between the employees and the supervisors and if hired, you will probably eventaully be fired. This company has the worst reputation of any employer in this area
