At first glance, the ZDX has a lot of similarities to its Honda brethren, the Honda Crosstour. Kind of a sleek, wagon/crossover body with lots of sloping details on the exterior making it seem sportier than it really is.

Much like when I drove the Crosstour, I really liked the ZDX, but have a hard time figuring out exactly who is going to like it enough to buy it.

Those who are really in love with Acura’s sporty styling details will really appreciate the lines of the ZDX.

In fact, if you compare the 2012 model with the concept car pictures that came out three years ago, not much was toned down, like most concept cars are subject to.

The ZDX’s V6 engine offers up 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. While the ride was smooth and handling capable and responsive, the ZDX was a little slow on the starting line.

I know a car is heavy if I bother to research how much it weighs, and I did with the ZDX. The 4,452-pound curb weight seems to keep the ZDX from fully living out its sporty inclinations.

The ZDX comes with Acura’s famous superhandling all-wheel drive.

Comfort in the ZDX was felt by all - front and rear passengers. Seats were plush and quickly heated on the cold days I was test-driving.

I always like it when I get the most optioned-out models and the Advance and Technology trims offered up many coveted features – a collision mitigation braking system; blind-spot information system and multi-rear cameras.

My test model was $57,455. A base price for the ZDX starts at $46K.
