For a product as mainstream as a minivan, it’s probably best not to go too eccentric with the design ideas.

The previous Quests Nissan has presented to the minivan market, didn’t adhere to that strategy. A Quest prior to 2011 looked extremely different from other minivans, on the inside and the outside.

I thought it was innovative, but what do I know?

Nissan didn’t sell too many Quests, compared to sales of the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, the Chrysler Town and Country or the Dodge Caravan.

So Nissan went back to the drawing board and after a year’s hiatus, the Quest is back with an all new minivan.

Well, new for Nissan.

Nissan pretty much went with the typical minivan template, this time around.

And I like it.

With seating for seven, the second row and third row are roomy and it’s easy to get kids in and out. The front seats were very ergonomically comfortable and had extra-large arm rests.

The consoles/bins between the captain seats on the front and second row were cavernous. I kept throwing stuff in there and it kept fitting in there. The second row console comes out, if you need more floor space.

It was easy to get the second and third row seats down. It just took a push of a button, if you don’t have a car seat in one. Car seats fit really tight, it took some time to get them unlatched.

Power wise, the Quest comes with 3.5-liter V6 that produces 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

The base price of my SL model was $34,350. With just about every option available, it came to $40,140.
