The Sonic Drive-In at 2804 Sunset Ave. is one step closer to qualifying for the national finals of the 16th annual Dr Pepper Sonic Games, the competition that recognizes the chain’s best restaurants.
The Rocky Mount restaurant is one of 300 vying to become one of the final 12 teams to participate in the event Sept. 20-21 in Las Vegas, Nev. The competition began in January with more than 2,600 enrolled drive-ins. It tests employees’ knowledge of food and service delivery and food and drink preparation.
“The crew should be proud of their hard work and dedication to advance to the top 10 percent of all Sonics in the nation,” said Nelson Taylor, the chain’s vice president of operations services. “The Dr Pepper Sonic Games are a unique and fun experience that encourages employees to deliver outstanding customer service.”
Sonic started in 1953 as a hamburger and root beer stand in Shawnee, Okla. With more than 3,500 outlets, it is the nation’s largest drive-in chain. For information, go to sonicdrivein.com.
