WINSTON-SALEM — A railway company is creating a new repair work subsidiary and is moving to Candor.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that the Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway Co. said it will create 25 jobs with the new division.
The company plans to spend more than $3 million over the next five years. Work already has started on converting a warehouse into a locomotive repair shop. The new unit also will repair passenger and freight cars.
Aberdeen Carolina and Western has 34 employees at its headquarters in Star. It plans to continue operating there until the second phase of the project is completed.
