Twin County Motorsports provides a hobby for all seasons.

In the summer heat, riding a jet ski can be a great way to cool off, said owner Lance Cherry Sr. As the weather turns colder in fall and winter, riding an all-terrain vehicle through the woods becomes popular. In the spring, roads are full of people taking their motorcycles for a ride.

Cherry loves all three modes of transportation, which is what makes selling them so enjoyable for him.

“It is a way of life that you just like being outdoors and you like what nature provides. I think it is not so much liking motorcycles, ATVs and water vehicles as much as it is liking what those products allow you to experience,” Cherry said.

Q: What services or products do you provide?

A: We provide sales, services parts and accessories for motorcycles, ATVs and personal watercraft for the franchises of Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Polaris and Arctic Cat.

Q: Who are your key leaders?

A: My son, Lance Cherry Jr., is the sales representative. The assistant manger here would be Alex Proctor.

Q: How many people do you employ?

A: Eight.

Q: When were you established?

A: We were established as the corporation here goes in 1999. But we have been a continuous-run operation since early 1965.

Q: What’s your business philosophy?

A: We are a local service to our community. We are very old-fashioned and family oriented. I certainly believe in old-fashioned honesty and integrity.

Q: What makes your business unique?

A: One thing we have focused on is our service. I think service is what keeps your community of customers happy as opposed to just making a sale. You can buy them from anyone, but not anyone can service. I distinctly think what makes us different is our service.

Q: Why did you pick Rocky Mount as a place to do business?

A: That is where I have been all my life. I am from Edgecombe County, I actually live in Tarboro and that is where I want to live. It is by choice not circumstance.
