WHITAKERS – Dr. Kristina K. Price has joined the medical staff at Rural Health Group Inc.
Price will work with longtime physician Dr. Ronald Hughes. An open house will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 12 at the clinic at 105 N.W. Railroad St. to welcome Price.
Reared in Pennsylvania, she earned a degree in biology from Houghton College in upstate New York and her medical degree from the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg. Va. She served her residency at the In His Image training program in Tulsa, Okla.
In civic life, Price has volunteered for seven foreign mission trips, most recently spending a month at a clinic in Cambodia.
Rural Health Group, a nonprofit community health center, was founded in 1974 in Jackson. In addition to Whitakers, it has eight other family practice clinics and three dental clinics that provide care for the uninsured and those with Medicaid, Medicare and N.C. Health Choice. It also accepts most private insurance. It is governed by a patient-majority board of directors.
