GREENSBORO — Shaffer Trucking presented a Battleboro man its Driver of the Month Award for May for its Greensboro terminal.

Leland Palmer, a 10-year Shaffer employee, was honored for driving 600,000 miles accident free. He received a plaque and will compete with other monthly honorees from the company’s 13 other fleets for the Driver of the Year Award to be presented in December.

To earn the monthly honor, drivers must be accident-free for that month, maintain steady production, keep accurate logs and warrant no disciplinary actions.

Shaffer Trucking is a refrigerated carrier that hauls more candy than any other carrier. With 14 fleets nationwide, it also moves beverages and confections across the 48 continental states. Its headquarters are in Lincoln, Neb.
