Daughtridge Gas & Oil Co. recently presented a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance to Rocky Mount Academy.
The money will be used for the school’s computer system.
“Rocky Mount Academy provides outstanding educational opportunities to young people, and we are proud to support their efforts,” company owner Bill Daughtridge said. “As an Exxon distributor and retailer, we are committed to giving back to the community that has helped build our business.”
The alliance’s program gives Exxon retailers an opportunity to invest in their communities through educational grants. Daughtridge Gas and the academy have worked together to apply for the grants, which have totalled $3,500.
Daughtridge Gas operates the Fuel DOC convenience store chain, the Express Lube at 965 N. Wesleyan Blvd., provides home heating propane and fuel, and sells indoor and outdoor fireplaces and grilling equipment.
