Outgo vs. income: Even a few checking overdraft fees can be hard hits on a person’s finances.

Thousands of bank customers in the Twin Counties who use checking overdraft protection to cover unexpected expenses or make it through to the next payday could be out of luck come Aug. 15.

A new federal banking regulation requires banks to do away with the coverage unless customers inform their bank they want it.

Boice-Willis Clinic Endoscopy Center has been re-accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

Accreditation means that the center meets national standards. The process includes a self-assessment and an on-site survey by the association’s staff.

Plastics factory to close
A plastic manufacturing plant in Battleboro that employs 241 full-time workers will be closing its doors at the end of November.

Berry Plastics is closing its tapes, bags and coatings manufacturing plant at 5746 Pearsall St. that has been open for 24 years. It operates out of a 390,000-square-foot building that the company will be putting up for sale.
