Here’s a candidate everyone can support

IMG_1488.JPG

A few of us in the Telegram newsroom were kicking around some of our favorite political cliches a little while ago.

None of them actually say anything, of course. But that’s exactly why they’re perfect for any candidate, no matter what party or planet they’re from.

Staff writer Mike Hixenbaugh has a new puppy named Bowie. I’m proud to be on the Bowie bandwagon.

Here are some of the things Bowie may or may not be thinking as we approach the Nov. 4 election.

  • Washington is broken, and I’m here to fix it.

  • We have to stop thinking so much about Wall Street and paying more attention to Main Street.

  • Children are the future of this country.

  • My campaign is going to focus on the issues.

  • It’s time to take special interest groups out of politics.

  • My opponent wants to throw out the baby with the bath water.

  • Well, that dog won’t hunt, Mister.

  • At the end of the day, America will be a safer, brighter, more prosperous nation.

  • My opponent wants to embrace the past. I’m here to lead us into the future.

  • It takes a village to build a bridge to the 21st century so we can take back our streets from the criminals and break the gridlock in Washington.

Remember: Vote Bowie on Nov. 4.

I don’t know Jeff. I think Bowie is a great candidate, but I would be a lot more comfortable if he would say:

I’ve met with real Americans, and I know their pain.

or:

We’re the greatest country in the world, so no dream is beyond our reach. We’re one people bound together by a common set of ideas and we must celebrate our diversity. Then we’ll find out how great a nation we can be.

oh, and:

It’s time for real leadership. It’s time for a new beginning. It’s time for a change. It’s time to elect a small dog.

and, of course:

It depends on what the meaning of the words ‘is’ is.

I think Bowie would make a fantastic President. I happen to know him on a personal level, and he has alot going for him.

He’s house trained. More than I can say for McSame/Palin.

He gets along with everyone, even dogs that want nothing to do with him whatsoever.

And he has very cute parents!!!

Bowie has my vote!

Candidate Bowie? yep, sure has my vote. For sure, best looking candidate this year. one thing about it, Bowie looks like he will listen while you talk and not give long speeches.

Another reason to vote for Bowie? without a doubt: I was in Mississippi this week, all of a sudden gas prices went from $3.79 down to $3.25 and today down to $3.05— even had a report of prices down in the $2.70 range in a nearby city. I’ve been around Gulfport.

The gas prices didn’t come down until Bowie entered the race and was publicized—therefore, Bowie must be responsible for lower gas prices.

Certainly we can’t attribute it to any politicians and business leaders manipulating the prices to try buying our happiness and votes in the November elections? or, can we?

OK Bowie, you get my vote— PS: one leg up as you pass the gas pump.

Best regards to everyone in nash/rocky mount/edgecombe and my Telegram posting partners.
